How a trip to Paraguay brought about the realization that a person does not need material things to be happy.
It’s about my trip to Paraguay where I volunteered to work in a dental clinic to help people in need. Through this story I wanted to tell others about my realization that a person does not need material things to be happy.
My story could be used to offer a new perspective for people who have never been to a place where there is no running water, toilets, or cars. It was such an awakening experience, and people who have never been out of the United States can benefit from seeing this. This story helps people see and feel how hard living conditions are in other countries, and conveys the importance of service to those in need. The organization that sponsored this trip could use this story to encourage other dentists or doctors to contribute, volunteer, or even start their own organization to help others. This story could be used in dental schools to encourage future dentists to participate in similar service opportunities. In public education this story could be used to illustrate what global economies look like, importance of the health sciences, or as an introduction to an essay topic in a language arts class.
